Student Employees

The Student Activities Office employs a number of student workers across multiple areas who help support SAO staff with a variety of projects such as programming, administrative functions and building management.

Administrative Assistants

The Administrative Assistants maintain the Student Activities Office (SAO) Main Office in room 232 and are essential to the day-to-day function of Student Activities throughout the year. Greeting guests and answering phone calls and emails to sao@brown.edu, the Admin Assistants are some of the first people you'll meet when you visit SAO. Managing event registration data, and form and training completion, as well as providing support for biannual processes such as group Mandatory Fall Roll Call (re-registration), Event Planning 101 meetings, and Activities Fairs all fall under their purview.

  • Remy Dufresne

    My name is Remy Dufresne and I am a senior student at Brown from Havertown, Pennsylvania (outside of Philadelphia). I am concentrating in Applied Mathematics - Biology and Philosophy, reprising my role as an Administrative Assistant within the SAO. I am beyond excited to continue my involvement with student activities and campus events while working closely with advisors and my SAO peers. I’m ready for a great year on College Hill!

    My name is Alexa Gay and I'm a senior studying International and Public Affairs and Comparative Literature. I'm from Northern Virginia and on campus I am involved with Post- Literary Magazine and Club Ski. I love trying new restaurants and cafes in Providence and will definitely be frequenting the new Nitro Bar in Fox Point!

    I'm Will, a senior from Newton, MA concentrating in Economics. At Brown, I sing in my a cappella group, The Jabberwocks, and am involved with a few finance clubs. Outside of school, I love weightlifting, traveling, and Formula 1 racing. I hope to meet as many of you as possible and help you all accomplish amazing things over the coming year!

    My name is Mia, and I am a senior from Honolulu, Hawaiʻi studying Biomedical Engineering. On campus, I'm a member of the Brown Band and a couple of community service clubs. I love working at SAO because it allows me to learn about and interact with the various student organizations on campus that I would have otherwise never heard about!

    My name is Olivia Raymond, and I am a sophomore concentrating in Public Health and Policy Economics from New Jersey. I am also a board member for the United League of Black Women and a policy analyst for the Brown Initiative for Policy. I am very excited to be an Admin assistant and be able to assist the student body.

    My name is Audrey, and I am a junior from Newton, Massachusetts studying International and Public Affairs and French and Francophone Studies. Around campus, I'm involved with my a cappella group, The Jabberwocks, and tutor kids with Brown Tutoring Corps and a couple other organizations. Outside of school, you'll find me trying coffee shops around Providence, going for long walks, and spending time with friends. I love working at the SAO because it gives me the chance to learn about and interact with such a variety of awesome student groups!

    My name is Clarissa Thorne-Disla, I'm a senior studying Social Analysis and Research! I am originally from New York City and would love to stay in Rhode Island post grad. In my free time I enjoy visiting museums, trying fun coffees, and going on easy runs.

    I'm Alice, and I'm a junior from Los Angeles, California studying applied mathematics and English. At Brown, I'm involved in the Varsity Women's Rugby Team, Brown Outing Club, and The Brown Daily Herald. I'm really excited to be involved in the behind-the-scenes of SAO, and can't wait to be involved on the administrative side.

BOLT Managers

Brown Outdoor Leadership Training (BOLT) is the only outdoor education program in the United States that is designed to bring together sophomores and new transfer/RUE students and provide them with a shared outdoor experience and continued group activities throughout the fall.

Campus Center Evening Managers

The Campus Center Evening Managers staff the Welcome Info Desk on the first floor of the Stephen Robert '62 Campus Center between the hours of 5 PM and 11 PM every weeknight. In addition, they are responsible for completing rounds of the building, and documenting any issues or concerns.

    Hello! My name is Ella, and I’m a junior studying Biophysics. I hail from the Bay Area, California and in my free time, I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, and swimming. My favorite things include dogs, boba, and red bean dorayaki!

  • Maeva Kembo

    Hello! My name is Maeva and I am a sophomore planning on studying Health and Human Biology on the pre-dental track. I am involved in Brown’s Black Student Union (BSU) as a member of their Media and PR Team. In my free time I love video editing and playing volleyball.

Campus Center Programmers

The Campus Center Programmers host a variety of social programs in and around the Stephen Robert '62 Campus Center open to the entire Brown community. This includes favorites such as the annual Halloween Extravaganza, Duck Hunt, Spring Weekend Air Brush Hats and the Spring Weekend Relaxation Station. Brown co-sponsors have included the President's Staff Advisory Council (SAC), Latinx student groups, Project LETS, Counseling and Psychological Services, Sarah Doyle Center for Women and Gender, Office of Residential Life, Office of the President and more.     Hi, I’m Raymond a sophomore studying economics and public health. I love to cook and worked at a bakery this summer. I am from Florida and lived in New York. I can’t wait to see you at the campus center events. 

Underground Thursday Coordinators

The Underground Thursdays Coordinators facilitate a monthly programming series called the Underground Thursdays that showcases student performers, artists and musicians. In the Underground, located in the lower level of the Campus Center, the coordinators host open mic type events where students can share their art with the community. They take care of booking performers, managing the audio and visual equipment in the space and MC'ing the events.

    My name is Ann Gray Golpira, and I’m a sophomore from Norfolk, Virginia studying International and Public Affairs. I began performing my original music at the Underground Thursday open mics last Fall, and I can’t wait to serve as one of the coordinators this year!
