Adventist Christian Fellowship (ACF) is a student-led ministry with a goal of establishing a space open to any and all Brown students where they can grow spiritually, intellectually and rationally through the lens of Seventh-day Adventist faith and practice. ACF serves all students on Brown campus interested in scripture, community, holistic living and Sabbath-centered spirituality. The mission of ACF is to nurture Christian believers into disciples of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through fellowship, Bible Studies, health and wellness programming, service projects, and mentorship supported by local Adventist churches and alumni, ACF seeks to lead students to accepting Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord, united in His ministry and Church through Grace and Love. Brown Aerial Acrobatics is a club dedicated to learning, practicing, and performing aerial arts. The club is dedicated to teaching AIKIDO, an effective, non-violent, traditional Japanese martial art, that focuses on using the energy of an opponent to protect the opponent & oneself using empty-hand techniques consisting of grabs & pins to quickly & safely that the opponent’s balance. AIKIDO also teaches bukiwaza or weapons techniques of the wooden sword & walking staff. AIKIDO is non-competitive, taught in a cooperative manner, good exercise & fun. The club holds weekly practices & seminars.

Brought together by a love of music and a passion for Jewish culture, the Alef Beats have been singing up and down the East Coast since their inception in 2005. They sing in all styles and formats, including Western pop, old Yiddish melodies, and modern Hebrew songs. The Alumnae Hall Advisory Board (AHAB) is a body of representatives from Brown student groups that facilitates the use of Alumnae Hall for performances and other events. AHAB fulfills the management needs of Alumnae Hall in its growing role as a student performance space. As a Category II group, AHAB has ownership over Alumnae Hall's stage, lighting, sound, and theatrical equipment and will perform maintenance, make policy decisions, and train student groups in the equipment's use.

Brown Alzheimer's Activists (BAA) is a peer advocacy group open to the entire Brown community focusing on Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and related dementias. The mission of BAA is to promote the advocacy of Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. Its goal is to spread awareness, educate its members with panel events and lab tours, fundraise money that will be donated to AD research, volunteer to improve the quality of life of those living with PD as well as their families/caregivers, and spread brain health education to broader communities. BAA holds biweekly meetings, weekend volunteer opportunities at local long-term care facilities, and various events throughout the semester including lab tours, panel events, fundraisers, and the annual Walk to End Alzheimer's.

Welcome to the Brown University chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE)! This chapter focuses on creating a community for students studying, or interested in, chemical engineering. Students will have the opportunity to attend the AIChE Annual Student Conference, where they compete in the student poster competition and meet with potential future employers at the recruitment fair. The Brown chapter also organizes an annual liquid nitrogen ice cream event. AIChE is the world’s leading organization for chemical engineering professionals, with over 40,000 members from over 90 countries.

Art for Service meets weekly to create artwork that benefits the local community, both on campus and beyond. In the past, the organization has painted large canvas panels to donate to Sojourner House and raised money to buy goods for both the RI Food Bank and Refugee Dream Center through live-painting sessions at Waterfire and the Lindemann Opening Ceremony. Attitude Dance Company is an entirely student-choreographed, multi-style dance group. Founded in 2020 at Brown University, The Black Consulting Initiative’s mission is to educate all students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds, on consulting as a viable career path. The Brown Brain Bee hosts free weekly lessons for local high schoolers, where volunteer instructors cover a wide range of neuroscience concepts. The CareFree Clinic of Brown University is committed to providing basic healthcare and health education to the underserved communities of Rhode Island. This is accomplished through partnering with Clinica Esperanza, where our members act as volunteers. At these shifts, we help patients become familiar with general markers of health, using blood glucose tests, blood pressure measurements, and BMI calculations. Because many of the communities we serve have been systematically marginalized and are often low-income, CareFree Clinic is dedicated to understanding the interaction of these factors and their limitations on patient health. In addition to working at the clinic, we help the Clínica community through fundraisers, art installations, awareness campaigns, and more.

China Care Brown is a Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design student-run service organization that was established in 2004 intended to provide mentorship and cultural enrichment to Chinese-American children in the local Rhode Island and Massachusetts areas. The Mentorship and Lessons Committees specialize in offering unique, and fun programming to these families and kids. The Fundraising Committee partners with 501(C)(3) non-profit One Sky Foundation and raises funds to aid educational and medical needs in Chinese orphanages.

We seek to bring movement and confidence into children's lives through our culturally responsive dance education. Our team will travel together to a Providence public elementary school to teach fourth or fifth graders a weekly arts curriculum we develop based on CityStep’s pedagogy–exercises and games that are fun, engaging, expressive and collaborative. We’ll aim to strengthen each child’s sense of self and deepen their connection to one another as they develop artistic skills. Our goal is to encourage kids to step outside of their comfort zone, the full expression of which will be the end-of-year event where they perform an original work, alongside their teachers, for family, friends, the people of Providence and the Brown community. All CityStep constituents are invited to attend the annual CityStep All-Company Training Retreat each year in New York City. Anyone can participate in CityStep Brown regardless of prior dance experience.

Create@Brown is a craft/DIY club that is open to all students, where any crafter--beginner or experienced--can come to learn and create. Founded in 1976, the Critical Review is a Brown University student-led organization that publishes course reviews based on surveys distributed to all students in every undergraduate class. At the end of the semester, professors administer surveys developed in conjunction with Brown University Faculty. The questionnaires comprise both open-ended and quantitative measures. During the semester, undergrads volunteer to synthesize the data into the reviews posted on the website.

Since 1982, The Brown Derbies have graced the time-honored walls of Brown University in Providence, RI. From Baton Rouge to Beijing, from San Francisco to Singapore, from Wayland Arch to the White House—the Derbies have established a renowned international, domestic, and on-campus presence since their founding.
The oldest uninterrupted tenor-through-bass a cappella group on campus, the Derbies are known for their energetic performances, expert musicianship, and unique sound. They sing tunes ranging from ’80s hits to modern pop, entertaining a wide variety of audiences united by a common love for Beyonce. The Derbies have also just released their 16th studio album, Hats Off, which is available to stream on all platforms!

In 1983, Paula Franklin, a black woman at Brown, felt the need for more student choreography on campus. That year, she choreographed a piece for the annual Fall Dance Concert, called “Portrait of a Studio.” This piece was the precursor to Fusion Dance Company. In the Spring semester of the same academic year, auditions were held to form a diverse company of 23 students. Over the past 42 years, Fusion has strived to uphold this tradition of a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic group of dancers who perform a variety of styles and do not conform to modern-day constraints on body shape, size, dance style, or choreography.

Gendo Taiko engages with the broader Brown University and Providence community through Fall and Spring open workshops and performances at WaterFire, RISD, Rhode Island College, Roger Williams University, and other local colleges. On campus, Gendo Taiko has collaborated with numerous student groups and organizations like the BCSC, BAI, Visions Magazine, and CSA. Furthermore, Gendo Taiko has travelled to perform across the East Coast, including Tufts University; Columbia University; Burlington, Vermont; and Washington D.C. The Higher Keys is a mixed voice a cappella group, existing under the umbrella of the Intergalactic Community of A Cappella (IGCAC).
The Higher Keys performs jazz-style vocal harmony and arrangements, with no instruments, in a variety of venues both on and off-campus. Housing Opportunities for People Everywhere (HOPE) is a student-run organization that collaborates with the Swearer Center for Public Service. This club works as a peer reviewer hub for the undergraduate neuroscience journal IMPULSE, critiquing submitted articles in conjunction with the central chapter. After reading new manuscripts, IMPULSE members meet every other week to discuss the paper and edit it for publication, and different club members lead reviews of the paper each meeting. In doing so, IMPULSE fosters greater appreciation and knowledge of neuroscience, scientific writing, presentation skills, and research as a whole.

Held annually since 2001 in a week-long April event, Ivy Film Festival has grown to become the largest student-run film festival in the world. Festival week features advanced screenings of feature films, panels, keynotes, workshops, and masterclasses with some of the most highly regarded professionals in the industry, culminating with the Official Selection of short student films, screenplays, and virtual reality experiences. In 2016, Ivy Film Festival expanded its reach to partner with dozens of universities across the world through its Satellite Film Festival, bringing its world-renowned Official Selection to audiences throughout the globe.

The Ivy League+ Pre Health society is the largest pre health society on campus, hosting initiatives to enhance your journey to medical, veterinary, and dental school. The Korean Adoptee Mentoring Program (KAMP) connects adopted Korean children and teens in the New England area with mentors—primarily Brown University students—who have cultural and/or linguistic ties to Korea. Mariachi Ositos de Brown is a traditional Mexican ensemble consisting of student trumpeters, violinists, guitarists, vihuelist, and bassists (guitarrón). Brown Mock Trial is a collegiate mock trial team that competes on the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) circuit. They travel to tournaments across the country, competing as trial attorneys and witnesses in a fictitious civil or criminal case. The Petey Greene Program supplements education for system-impacted individuals by preparing volunteers to provide free, quality tutoring and related programming to support the academic achievement of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people. The party scene has long been a space for queer community-building, encounters, and celebration throughout history. Most other student affinity groups have a tradition of yearly socials. QA has been working to re-establish this within those interested in the queer community, which has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response. The organization and its events are open to all students. Without QA, spaces that support queer interests would once again be pushed to the margins of our campus culture.

Brown Space Engineering (BSE) promotes space accessibility by designing and manufacturing open-source, low-cost spacecraft. The purpose of Stop Torture RI (Brown University Chapter) shall be to work in alliance with local community organizations including Stop Torture RI and Direct Action for Rights and Equality (DARE) to further their goals related to reducing harm in carceral settings in Rhode Island including ending the use of extended solitary confinement through such campaigns as: ending RIDOC’s reliance on long-term solitary confinement, closing the High Security Center, preventing forced out-of state transfers, and preventing the construction of new carceral facilities. We shall also bolster the voices of those impacted by incarceration as we believe no decisions should be made without the input of those who are most directly affected by the Department of Corrections’ practices: incarcerated people and their loved ones.

Strait Talk seeks to bridge the cross-strait divide between mainland China and Taiwan. The core of the organization is centered around our annual symposium where we bring in a delegation of 15 young professionals in industry and government from mainland China and Taiwan to engage in conflict resolution with the goal of fostering a shared sense of history and humanity. Strait Talk also holds weekly educational meetings throughout the semester discussing news related to China and Taiwan.

The primary focus of BSR is the radio station, broadcast on FM radio and bsrlive.com. Other operations include new music listening, archiving, and in-person events. Brown was the first student-run radio station in America, a testament to the consistency of the radio over centuries. This year we trained new radio show hosts and maintained existing shows. We have upkept tech equipment and attended to necesssary repairs for the station. Our teams have hosted several social events, advertised on social media, and took inventory of our music library. Interest meetings for joining our radio station have consistently high attendance, with about 40 people attending last semester and 20 this semester. As mentioned, we have doubled the number of shows we host and increased participation in our team meetings. Our list serv grew by 50 members last semester and about 20 this semester. In the past two years we have experienced consistent growth in participation in our club, as well as suggestions to increase our presence on campus.

The Sustainable Business Society aims to foster the professional development of environmentally conscious leaders across various disciplines and industries. SBS offers a comprehensive curriculum that educates students on the foundations of sustainability, encompassing climate science, policy, and technology. Additionally, SBS provides career development workshops and speaker series to further enhance members' understanding and professional growth in the sustainability sector.
Within SBS, students are paired into interest groups based on their preferences, spanning from working on venture prizes, to community engagement, to pro bono consulting, to drafting newsletters, and, finally, social media outreach. These initiatives provide members with real-world experiences in sustainability, allowing them to apply their knowledge and skills in practical settings.

The purpose of BUTTR shall be to provide a safe space for all students to engage in the hobby of tabletop roleplaying games in a fun and encouraging environment. We will host monthly gatherings to teach unfamiliar students the basics of the game and host one-off specialty events. Tempo Performance Co. is a dance performance group that is inclusive of all dance styles and dancers of any experience level. They were founded upon the idea that the art of performance can extend beyond dance and wanted to create a space that encourages students to explore all elements of their artistic abilities, including singing and rapping. Tempo's performance repertoire in the past has primarily consisted of hip hop, R&B, and Korean pop, but is in no way limited to these genres.

The Teochew Association (TCA) at Brown University fosters a welcoming environment and inclusive space for students from all backgrounds to celebrate Teochew culture. The Association aims to preserve Teochew heritage through educational events and experiential activities.
In face of cultural loss, the Association provides a “home away from home” for the Brown Community by organizing cooking nights, Teochew language and culture classes, and community events to nurture linguistic diversity and cultural appreciation among all students.
Teochew — sometimes romanized as Chiuchow or Chaozhou — refers to Han Chinese people from the Chaoshan region, located in the eastern Guangdong province of China. In the 1800s, following war and famine, many Teochew emigrated from China, shaping the modern-day Teochew diasporic population. Currently, sizable Teochew populations are located in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam and the U.S., among other countries.

Umeed at Brown makes an active effort to spread awareness of the burden of cancer in low to middle-income countries to Brown University community through the creation of informational multimedia. Visual Art Appreciation holds weekly meetings, where we learn and discuss different art movements, artists, and styles. The group is open to all students from all levels of knowledge about art history. Our meetings are meant to be informal yet informative and engaging discussions about art. Alongside discussions about prominent art movements, we'll also hold immersive activities, such as testing the architectural claims of Vitruvius and examining the Canon of Polykleitos.
